I started the official Kreation Clothing Company in 2019, before the pandemic and before I became a social worker by day. The business element of Kreation has always been to make something affordable for as many people as possible, and of course about the time and effort of personally sewing a garment for someone. That was really hard as people could probably guess and I took a step away from sewing and steered towards the heat press.
When I relaunched Kreation in March of 2021, a lot of things had changed for people due to COVID, and undoubtedly more effort needed to be dedicated to rebalancing much of what had been lost. Many people lost loved ones, their jobs, and the strong social connections they once had and really relied on. Simultaneously, I had begun an educational journey, one that shed a real light on the internal conversations we have with ourselves and the consequences they have on our well-being.
You learn that self-talk becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy because you start acting accordingly with that mentality, whether it be a positive or negative one. If you are in the negative head space, it's not that more negative events happen per say, but that you become biased to see the negative in those events, almost like you are wearing glasses, with a negative lens. It's called attentional bias, and it means that we start to be biased about what we are paying attention to and the bias is completely dictated by the lens that we are looking through. And when we "see" negativity, we feel it too, and the related negative emotions dampen and interfere with the things that we do.
Here's the good news: fortunately, it works the other way around too!! The more positivity you sprinkle into your life, the more positivity you will see in life. And similarly to what was just mentioned, life may not even radically change in the events that occur, but how you feel will radically change because forming the habit of seeing the positive in an event (switching in the positive lens), not only feels great, but enables you to be fully present in the things that you do and perhaps be happier and do even more than what you thought you were capable of.
Why am I even writing this? Because it's not always easy to just see the positive in things when life is moving so fast and feels overwhelming. But something we pretty much have to do every day is put on clothing, and that can be an easy, small way to incorporate a moment of inspiration, empowerment and ultimately, positivity into our lives. Kreation Clothing is something tangible that you can use to enhance your life, to kickstart seeing the best in yourself or to inspire you to.
No matter how corny it sounds, Kreation is here to remind you how great you are and how much potential you have, when you might forget or lose inspiration. Like when you put on a happy song to get you a good mood! And wearing it not only can remind you, but can inspire someone behind or in front of you who may just have needed to hear that good things take time.
Inspiration, motivation, empowerment and positivity are essential in life and sometimes we need to be deliberate about incorporating them into more aspects of our life. The designs are simple, it's as affordable as I could make it and if you understand that this can be more than a piece of clothing, you will get the most out of Kreation Clothing!
