To: All the Small Business Owners I've Asked For A Discount/Freebie

There's nothing I love more than a discount, or even better...free stuff.

I really thought it was a compliment when I asked small business owners to rep one of their items, meaning that they would give me something for free, for you know, free advertising. And to some extent it is great when someone loves an item and wants to wear it. But it's only now do I realize that giving something out for free to someone who isn't a sponsored elite athlete, celebrity or influencer of some sort, not only costs the amount it took to buy that item, but also the amount that I would have made if I would have sold that piece to a customer.

Although it may seem obvious, no one ever told me before this that the real way to support someone is to simply buy a product; I genuinely thought asking for freebies was acceptable because I would be representing their brand.

I don't hold it against anyone who does this because it's really a matter of understanding that a small business is not Amazon and Nike, and not all businesses are large enough (yet) to bear those losses.

Whenever I have some extra cash I try to buy something from another small business because boy does it feel good to be on the receiving end when someone hits that "place order" button!!

And of course I am always looking for ways to somehow get something free to someone here and there because seriously, who doesn't love getting free stuff???

Until next time...stay ready folks
